COMPANY HISTORY:
Founded in 1837 by the Melchers family and
since then built their distilling tradition. The distillery started as a
small family business but rapidly increased their activities in the
liquor trade to become one of the leading and important producers and
exporters of Dutch Genevers, Liqueurs and the famous Dutch Advocaat. The
production and offices were located from 1837 until 1985 at the “Lange
Haven” in the city of Schiedam.
Since 1985 new export offices were opened in the village of Nijkerk and
from the 1st. of June 2003 we moved our export offices and warehouse to
Lelystad. The old distillery at the “Lange Haven” has been renovated in
1994 in the authentic style and is now being used as the National Dutch
Distillery Museum, complete with the authentic distillery and
pot-stills.
When taken over in 1975 by the Vonk family
the distillery has expanded and became a large producer and exporter of
beverages and spirits with markets in many foreign countries, providing
this markets with products such as Whisky, Vodka, Brandy, Rum, Liqueurs
and Creams. With Rembrandt Vodka, Dry Gin, Light & Dry White Rum and
Golden Dark Rum as one of the strong branded products.
Melchers Brewery is producing in a conglomerate Group of Breweries concentrated in the Netherlands, Belgium and Romania with a large brew-capacity. In the modern bottling- and canning facilities they can handle almost all sizes of bottles, cans and packaging. Melchers Brewery has build a strong position in the beer market by exporting the brands Rembrandt Masterpiece Lager Beer, Melchers Premium Export Pilsner, Van Delft Lager Beer and Holland Village Non-Alcoholic Beer.
In the mid-80’s an exciting new market
opened up and Melchers started to supply Supermarkets by developing for
them Private Label products at competitive prices and
moved very successful into this market.
In the mid-90’s the growth of the Private Label business
led to expand our products into the major supermarket groups in Japan
and the other countries in the Far-East. Now at the beginning of the
21st century P. Melchers Distillery is continuously searching new
markets and developing new products and ready to be at your service at
any time. This all is contributed to the company’s operational
philosophy which is oriented towards its customers.
The company’s formula is the high quality product range, its competitive
pricing and its professional service which we all keep at the highest
standards in order to ensure the satisfaction of each customer.
The production of our Spirit products is at the very modern joint
production plant in the Netherlands and in Germany at about one and half
hour drive from the Port of Rotterdam and Antwerp.
